Dangerous "Gifts"
Although this article is very short, it is very important.
As I have earlier reported, there are trusted companies that are participating with one or more unscrupulous companies that are scamming unsuspecting consumers because these unscrupulous companies are using legitimate and trusted businesses as a 'cover'.
Recently I went to Barnes & Noble to order a book and I noticed that they had an offer very similar to one which had caused me a great deal of trouble several years ago (click here to learn more).
Here is the message of this article: In no way shape or form should you sign up for any "thank you purchase gift" that offers you a $10 gift (or something similar) until you Google the name of the company offering it.
Case in point: After purchasing my book from B&N, I was offered a $10 "thank you" gift. I decided to take the name of the company and go to Google and typed in the name along with word "fraud".
You wouldn't believe what came back. If you want to see, go to Google and type in "Webloyalty.com fraud".
When I fell for this "gift" scam 3 years ago, what happened was our bank account information was immediately transmitted from the trusted company to the scammers and our checking account was ripped off for several months in a row. Even after getting them to stop illegally debiting our account it took more time to get a refund.
Be very careful when shopping online because trusted companies are no longer checking out companies that they do business with.
